Mogadishu (HOL) — A total of 41,639 students in Somalia’s Banadir region sat for the intermediate-level national examinations on Monday, marking the sixth consecutive year that the Banadir Regional Administration has independently administered the standardized tests.

The Governor of Banadir and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), officially launched the examination process and commended parents and guardians for their continued support of students’ education. He also praised the security forces for ensuring the safety and integrity of examination centers.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mayor Muungaab reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving education quality and accessibility across the region. He pledged increased investment in free education and efforts to expand learning opportunities for all students, regardless of background.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the students for reaching this milestone,” he said. “Your hard work and resilience are commendable, and we remain committed to building a better future through education.”

The launch event was attended by several senior officials, including Deputy Governor for Security and Politics Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh), the Commander of the Banadir Police Division, education officials overseeing the examinations, and other key members of the regional administration.
