Garowe (HOL) – Puntland's Vice President, Ilyas Lugatoor, has expressed support for Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe's proposal to include Puntland in the ongoing National Consultative Council (NCC) meetings in Mogadishu.
President Madobe, who has opposed Somalia's federal government's plan for a one-person, one-vote (1PV) system, highlighted concerns over missed election deadlines and the absence of Puntland and Khatumo from the meeting.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Lugatoor praised Madobe's stance during the NCC meetings, acknowledging his refusal to proceed without Puntland's involvement.
"I commend the President of Jubbaland, Ahmed Madobe, for his position at the Mogadishu meeting as he rejected the exclusion of Puntland and Khatumo," said Vice President Lugatoor.
Madobe's demand for the inclusion of Puntland and Khatumo has reportedly influenced the outcome of the discussions, with the meeting now entering its fourth day of deliberations.
