Mogadishu (HOL) — The Galmudug regional government has pledged to hold accountable those responsible for inciting the ongoing conflict in the Galgaduud region following deadly clashes that have left over 50 people dead and many others injured in the past two days.

Minister of Security Mohamed Abdi Aden Gaboobe announced that the administration has identified these individuals and stressed that they will face legal action. He condemned the escalating clan conflict.

The announcement follows intense fighting in the Laandheer area, where several security forces deployed to mediate between the warring clans have been killed. Minister Gaboobe emphasized that the conflict, rooted in a territorial dispute over uninhabited land, is intolerable and that those involved will be prosecuted according to the law.

In response to the clashes, the Somali government has instructed its security agencies and the Galmudug administration to intervene and mediate urgently. The warring factions hail from the towns of Cabudwaaq and Xeraale, with the conflict centred on a land dispute.

The latest declaration by the Galmudug government aims to end the violence and restore stability to the region.
