Garowe (HOL) – At least two people were killed, and a dozen were injured in a clash between clan militias in the Harfo district, Mudug region, on Saturday, residents reported.
The fighting erupted after a dispute over land ownership and access to a well. Both sides are reportedly armed with heavy weapons, raising fears of further escalation in the already volatile area.
Traditional elders have begun mediating efforts to separate the rival groups and halt hostilities, though the situation remains tense.
The Puntland administration, which governs the region, has not issued a statement on the conflict. Residents expressed concerns over the lack of official intervention to de-escalate tensions.
Clan conflicts are an ongoing issue in Somalia, often driven by disputes over scarce resources, and they continue to undermine stability in many rural areas.
