Dhusamareb (HOL) — At least eight people were killed and ten others wounded in a deadly inter-clan conflict on Friday in Harar Heyle, a rural area under the El-bur district of Galgadud region.
According to local residents, the violence erupted between two clan militia forces from Guriel and El-bur over grazing land.
Traditional elders in the Galgadud region have begun mediation efforts to separate the warring militias and initiate dialogue to resolve the conflict. However, the Galmudug state authorities have not commented on the incident.
Recurrent clan conflicts over resources, such as grazing land and water, have plagued the central regions of Somalia, particularly in the Galgadud and Mudug areas of Galmudug State.
