Outgoing PM chairs his final cabinet meeting

Wednesday June 22, 2022

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somalia's outgoing Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble presided over his final cabinet meeting on Tuesday in Mogadishu, where he celebrated his government's accomplishments during its tenure.

Roble urged the ministers to continue their work and assist the newly appointed Prime Minister and the new government.

The Council of Ministers thanked the Prime Minister for leading the government and, particularly, for the peaceful conclusion to Somalia’s federal election.

Prime Minister-designate Hamse Abdi Barre is set to appear before parliament on Wednesday, where he is expected to have his nomination approved.

Mohamed Hussein Roble was appointed as Somalia's Prime Minister by former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo as part of the electoral deal forged by Farmajo and Federal Member State leaders on September 17, 2020.

During his year and a half in office, Roble frequently quarrelled with the former president, openly defying Farmajo's presidential decrees and blasting him for alleged electoral meddling.
