For the past few months, Somalis In Tech have been organizing hackathons to address the growing health pandemic known as COVID-19. The pandemic continues to disproportionately affect Somalis and other Black communities in the diaspora, and the risk of the virus spreading in the
African continent at a faster rate, continues to rise, which will put further pressure on our fragile health service.
They want participants to develop an innovative technological solution to either:
Build awareness on the ways to stop the virus spreading Improve patient care and assist in the diagnosis Assist in any way your team sees fit and is suited to your skillset.
Please attend the live-streamed Grand Finale of the Hackathon where participants will show and tell their ideas on Sunday 25th October at 5 pm GMT, the event will be panelled by our special guest Dr Samira Hassan. The event will be live-streamed on YouTube here: Hackathon Grand Finale.

Somalis In Tech is a non-profit social enterprise created in late 2019 to address, A. The growing needs of Somali professionals wanting to build careers in the Tech sector, B. To provide existing Somali tech professionals with an avenue for them to use their skills to help the community. Since 2019, they have grown the organisation to help many new Somali tech professionals enter the industry and as well as connect Somalis with tech project opportunities to help their community back home and in the diaspora.
