MOGADISHU (HOL) - The sixth infantry division of the Somali National Army has commenced a six months training at the Turkish run military academy in Mogadishu.
A statement from the Somali Turkish Force Command in Mogadishu Sunday noted that the training which began mid September will conclude in early December.
The 450 recruits took oath on Thursday at the TurkSom Military School in Mogadishu graced by senior military officials from Turkey and Somalia.
The recruits will undergo basic military training, Anti-Terrorism Training and Exercise Center Command.The Turkish military academy which opened in 2017 and built at a cost of $50 million according to Turkish officials has trained hundreds of Somali soldiers as part of the force generation programme to rebuild the Somali National Army.
Turkey is one of the foreign countries training Somali Security Forces alongside the UK, EU and the African Union.
