NAIROBI (HOL) - President Uhuru Kenyatta has lifted the cessation of movement in Nairobi and Mombasa and reopened places of worship.
Addressing the nation Monday, President Kenyatta announced an end to restrictions to movement into and out of the capital Nairobi and the towns of Mombasa, Mandera and Kwale.
Kenyans will now be free to attend places of worship, the President said but warned only a maximum of 100 people will be allowed to attend for a period of one hour.
But people over the age of 58 and under 13 in addition to those with underlying conditions will not be allowed to participate in worship.
The Kenyan Government suspended movement into and out of Nairobi and Mombasa in April in what economists say has adversely impacted on the country’s economy.
The dusk to dawn curfew will however remain in force, President Kenyatta said.
The ban on local and international flights remains.
Kenya has since recorded over 7000 COVID19 cases following over 200,000 tests.
